I know of people who used AD9850 or AD9851 which could be resolved to 1HZ as LO. The best I saw from Elektor sdr is 1KHz step from one of the elektor sdr softwares from Kainka. If this is to be purposeful, perhaps one need to wrie the LO software to output atlest 4HZ step sothat at 74AC74 output, it would be 1Hz How ever, i gather that upto 10Hz wspr can be managed.

2. Thanks for the references to the elektor SDR project. I have been taking a look at the articles and it looks interesting. However it seems that the receiver they are presenting lacks SSB modulation among others commonly used in the amateur bands. Plus 99 pounds per kit!! I think I will drop the idea or look.
